2. 1937 - Report on Currency and Finance (RCF) was first published in 1937
3. RCF adopted a theme-based approach from 1998-99.
1. In 1999, there was no publication of the Bank which focused on any one theme or which gives time series on different aspects of the economy on a regular basis.
2. In 1998, an attempt was made to present time series data through a new publication entitled the Handbook of Statistics on Indian Economy. This was very well received by the public at large.
3. In 1999 - the Handbook with sharply enhanced coverage is released along with this Report (RCF 1998-99) which for the first time focuses on one theme namely, "the structural transformation of the Indian economy".
4. [Feb 26, 2021](RBI_Press%20Release_20210226_Report%20on%20Currency%20and%20Finance%20(RCF)%20for%20the%20year%202020-21.pdf) - Report on Currency and Finance (RCF) for the year 2020-21 was released by the RBI after a hiatus between 2014 and 2019.
1. So the Report has been revived with this release.
2. The theme of the Report was “Reviewing the Monetary Policy Framework” which assumed topical relevance in the context of the review of the inflation target by March 2021 against the backdrop of structural changes in the macroeconomic and financial landscape that have prompted several central banks to undertake policy framework reviews
3. The period of study in this report is from October 2016 to March 2020 commencing with the formal operationalisation of the [Flexible Inflation Targeting (FIT)](Flexible%20Inflation%20Targeting%20(FIT).md) framework (October, 2016) in India but excluding the period of the COVID-19 pandemic in view of data distortions.
