[June 15, 2026](https://www.pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2272872®=48&lang=1) - India [launched](PIB_20260615_Press%20Release%20On%20New%20Series%20Of%20Wholesale%20Price%20Index.pdf) the new *(for first time)* Output Producer Price Index (OPPI) along with a Input Producer Price Index (IPPI), and also released revised Wholesale Price Index (WPI) with base year 2022-23.
1. <span style="color:#C21E56;">WPI will be released for 5 years from June, 2026 considering the wide usage of WPI in price escalation clauses, along with PPI, and will be discontinued thereafter. This would give sufficient time to users to switch from WPI to PPI.</span>
3. June 15, 2026 - MoSPI also released new [Index of Services Production (ISP)](Index%20of%20Services%20Production%20(ISP).md)
4. Producer Price Index (PPI) is released by the [Office of the Economic Adviser](https://eaindustry.nic.in/uploaded_files/wpi/WPI_FAQS.pdf), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

1. This is a new index, and was introduced from June 15, 2026.
2. It is compiled on monthly basis and was made available for the month of May 2026 (Provisional) along with the back series from April 2023 to April 2026 (37 months) on June 15, 2026.
### Service Producer Price Index (Service PPI) *(services)*
1. June 15, 2026 - Service PPIs, compiled on a quarterly basis, was released for Q4 of 2025-26 (Provisional) along with the back series from Q1 of 2023-24 to Q3 of 2025-26.

1. ISP measures quantity/volume/physical output and real (excluding price change) growth of service sector production over time, just like what the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) does for factories).
2. Service Producer Price Index (Service PPI) - It measures price change, that is, the average change in selling prices charged by domestic service providers. It is similar to how WPI tracks wholesale prices of (physical) goods.
